Awareness through Motorcycle Rally & Street- Corner Meetings
Link_16thDec09_Aidsday1World AIDS day was observed with organising motorcycle rally and street corner meeting on 1st December 2009 by BISWA. It was a winter morning of December like any other day and everybody was in a haste to cover the day’s schedule. But suddenly their attention was interrupted by a rally by white T-shirt & cap clad team on motorbikes. It was a peaceful rally as none of them was shouting any slogan. But the message of the day was being delivered through the placards displayed by them as well as it was printed on their T-shirts & caps. Moreover they conducted street corner meetings to convey the message of the day to public at large. The rally was flagged off at 08.30 AM by Sri K.C.Malick, Chairman BISWA at the office campus. He wished a safe and successful rally. The rallying motorcyclists thundered the streets with their message on World AIDS Day. People in the streets were taken aback by such an unusual moving mass in the streets and that too at Link_16thDec09_Aidsday2the early hours of the day. They used to pause to watch the movements and tried to understand the intention of such a large rally in a winter morning. The traffic policemen on duty at the main crossings showed hurriedness in let the rally cross the roads so that the usual traffic may not be interrupted in their movements. The rally stopped momentarily at Dhanupali Chowk and Sindurpank Chowk for two street corner meetings. Some of the rallists spoke to the occasion. They spoke more on how to bring awareness on HIV & AIDS among common men and rural folk in particular. Some amused commuters stood there for sometimes to understand what was going on there. Ultimately the bystanders were the listeners there and through them the message of the day was conveyed to the society at large.
