Post Polio Corrective Surgery Camp PDF Print E-mail
BISWA_Polio_CampAll efforts by governments are converged to eradicate polio from our country. Polio vaccines are given to all infants as a preventive measure. But unfortunately some are deprived of such vaccination due to various reasons and ultimately fall prey to this dreaded disease. A Polio Corrective Surgery Camp, phase one was organized from 24th to 26th February’08, where in hundreds of patients turned up for screening and operation. The second phase of the camp took place on 19th & 20th of April’08 to remove the plaster from the operated body. The beneficiaries were given calipers shoes and crutches as and when required to them.  A get together of the volunteers, who participated in Post Polio Corrective Surgery Camp, was organized by Sarva Shikshya Abhijan (SSA) on 20th April’08. On this occasion Sri Pradipta Kumar Pattnaik, District Magistrate & Collector felicitated those volunteers and organisations who have worked remarkably during the camp. BISWA was felicitated with a certificate of appreciation for sanitation management and operation theatre management during the camp. The total sanitation work conducted by BISWA sanitation department was led by Sri Lingaraj Das, where as Sri Niranjan Dora, Sri Basudev Pruseth, Sri Badrinarayan Pati and Sri Bhabesh Chand worked as the team members.  Sri Shiv Prasad Meher, Manager, Public Relations and Sri Bhawani Shankar Mishra, Manager, Health received the award. Dr. Rajaram Sarangi, Physician of BISWA SWASTHYA KENDRA was also awarded for performing very praiseworthy work during the camp. He also participated as a volunteer doctor for door to door visit to the operated patients with providing them necessary medical treatment and advice. Among  others Sri Premanidhi Seth, District Project Coordinator, SSA, Sri Joy George, Honorary Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Sambalpur Branch, Sri Julius Lakra, Project Director, DRDA, Sri Laxman Mahapatra, Joint Commissioner, Consolidation of Lands. Dr. Ashok Singhal and Dr (Mrs.). Narayani Panda, Vice Chairperson Indian Red Cross Society, Sambalpur Branch were also participated in the meeting.
