Bharat Integrated Social Welfare Agency (BISWA) was established as a philanthropic organization in 1994. In pursuance of its objectives, in later stages it has incorporated various means and methods to achieve desirable results. Promotion of Self Help Groups (SHGs), extending Micro-finance, encouraging Micro-enterprise, ensuring social justice for disabled, socio-economic rehabilitation of leprosy cured persons, creating avenues for alternative livelihood for poors have been adopted since a long time and have proven to be effective tools for poverty alleviation.

Background

Bharat Integrated Social Welfare Agency (BISWA), was set up as a non-political, non-profit making voluntary development organization on 1st January 1994 and was registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, Government of India vide Registration number 22660/41 of 2005-06 dated 01.07.2005 (issued against old registration no. 4824-22 of 1996 dated 15.07.1995). It was founded by eminent social worker and a professional banker Sri Khirod Chandra Malick, who is presently the Chairman of the organization.

Geographical Coverage

At present, BISWA is actively engaged in different developmental activities in 30 districts of Orissa viz: Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Bolangir, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Nawapara, Boudh, Anugul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur etc and 16 districts of Chattisgarh besides working as the Nodal Agency of Rastriya Mahila Kosh for the State of Chhatisgarh. Has more then 61 Outreach (branch) offices in total.
