BISWA is the INDIA NGO Regional Awardee for East Zone in the Large Category for the year 2007.
 Recognition, applause and appreciation for a decade and a half long effort for poverty alleviation - BISWA is the INDIA NGO Regional Awardee for East Zone in the Large Category for the year 2007. BISWA’s module of Micro Finance inclusive of Micro savings and credit, Micro Enterprise, Micro Insurance and Social Development and an integrated sustainability trait of a Self Help Federation, have finally received its due acclaim.The award ceremony was held at The Sheraton Hotel, New Delhi on 5th March 2008. Mr.P.Chidambaram, Union Minister for Finance and Mr. N.R.Narayana Murthy, CEO- Infosys Inc Ltd were the Chief Guests for the occasion who gave the Awards to the NGO representatives.
India NGO Awards are constituted by the Nand and Jeet Khemka Foundation and Resource Alliance to celebrate success and reward excellence in Development sector. 2008, the second year of India NGO Awards received an overwhelming 131 entries from across India for the prestigious Awards. The selection procedure at three stages included a personalized field based evaluation. On behalf BISWA Sri Prasanta Sahu, Manager, NRM& IRB and Ms Ninu Nair, Research Officer, NRM & IRB, participated in the function and received the award.
